Equipment and Facilities
Main Studio
Visual Communications is equipped with a studio space (35’ W x 30’ L x 11.5 H) that can handle green/blue screen work, 4 camera live 4K/HD studio production with virtual or physical sets, motorised backdrops including blackout, commercial shoots, webcasting and everything short of vehicle footage. It includes a Leprecon 624 dimmer, isolated power on (24) 20-amp circuits with (48) 3-Pin Stage receptacles and a wide variety of lighting instruments. The studio is cyced to the center of the floor on 2 sides using Pro Cyc’s permanent install. In addition, it includes 4 Ultimatte Chroma Keyers and 2 Pixotope virtual reality engines. The studio is located in the main library and is isolated from any exterior noise.
Insert Studio
Our second recording space is perfectly configured for small podcasts of 1-4 people for distribution on Spotify or a video version for YouTube.
Field Production
Cameras are Canon C400s, Canon C70s, Panasonic Varicam LTs, Panasonic S1H and SONY A7III. Camera support and stabilization systems include a multitude of Sactler tripods, jibs, sliders, an easyrig and various gimbals.
Post Production
Editing is carried out via the Adobe Suite connected to an enterprise class MAM from IPV Curator and EVO from SNS (Studio Network Solutions). As a result of our infrastructure, all projects are accessible remotely, backed up centrally and not affected by any single system failure. Dailies can easily be produced and uploaded to the web for clients to review footage or edits from their office or home.
Streaming Video
Visual Services has been successful streaming a wide variety of University events for over 10 years. We can handle basic speaker feeds or elaborate live events with remote locations and complex graphics packages, while simultaneously providing streams to Facebook Live and Livestream. To ensure best viewer experience, and that services are not lost we employ redundancy in both our encoders and our switching systems. Live production is provided by three Newtek TriCaster units and 2 Wirecast stations. By employing Dejero bonded cellular systems we can augment your live event with feeds normally inaccessible to traditional LAN or fiber connections.
